Jon W. Brenizer commenced his college education at Duke University and graduated from Syracuse University in 1969. He received his Juris Doctorate Degree from Syracuse University College of Law in 1971. He is admitted to practice law before all courts in the State of New York, and before the United States District Court in the Northern District of New York.

Mr. Brenizer is a former Assistant District Attorney with Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office and has practiced exclusively in the are of Domestic Relations and Family Law for over 40 years and has lectured and written in this field for both the New York State Bar Association and the Onondaga County Bar Association on matrimonial practice skills, divorce, separation agreements, Family Court Practice, custody and visitation, and ethics. He has also lectured for the Children First Program. Attorney Brenizer is Av rated, the highest rating, by Martindale-Hubbell’s Peer Review Rating System and recently received its recognition for Proudly Serving the Community on his 45th Anniversary of being admitted to practice.

He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and a past member of the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section and a past member of the Mediation Committee of the Family Law Section of the New York State Bar Association. He is a member of the Onondaga County Bar Association cind its Family Law Section. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Onondaga Pastoral Counseling Center, and a past member of the Official Board of the West Genesee United Methodist Church. He has been chosen as a New York Super Lawyer every year for the past ten (10) years, a Top Lawyer in Upstate New York, recognized as a member of the Best Law Firms in America, and as a Best Lawyer by U.S. News and World Report, and recently recognized as one (1) of American’s Most Honored Professionals in 2018.

Mr. Brenizer has two daughters and three grandchildren and a step daughter, stepson, and has three step-grandchildren. During their formative years he was active in their scholastic, athletic, and religious upbringing. He values his relationship with his children, step-children and grandchildren and strives to protect such relationships of his clients.
